The Worship Committee (in coordination with/and assistance of the pastor, Music Director, Education Director, and church administrative staff) plans worship services to include scheduling of special events and speakers. The committee obtains guest pianists/organists as necessary for congregational services at which the church pianist/organist cannot play. It is also responsible for the training, activities, procurement, and assignment of acolytes. It also trains, obtains and assigns Altar Guild workers and ushers for services. The committee develops annual goals and budget in support of worship services. (the lectionary and order of worship is the responsibility of the pastor.) Worship service time changes and scheduling of special services require the approval of the Parish Council. The committee is financially supported through the church’s general operating budget and member designated donations.
Our Worship Committee strives to maintain a traditional, reverent order of service while occasionally incorporating new styles of music and prayer into the worship service. We are always seeking constructive ideas and active participation in our planning!
We have many ways to add music to our worship service. Our choir is the backbone of our musical contributions. The choir sings each Sunday throughout the school year, except for the first Sunday of the month. Practice is held each Wednesday evening and new members are always welcome!
We also encourage soloists, instrumental creativity and have hand chime group that provides special music on various occasions. Our organist and pianist provide background music for our congregation and choir, and offer their professional services for weddings and memorial services.
